Getting into college means you get the opportunity to meet new people from different backgrounds. It is even more fascinating when your college is the place where many international students chose to get into. By having friends, you can build your own circle consisted of people who share the same interest or perspective of life with you. Start with meeting the people on your floor
Your dorms are filled with students who might be just as nervous as you are to start their life in college. Hence, you don’t really have to be worried to introduce yourself to the people on your floor. If you have roommates, take them along to walk around and meet the people on your floor together. You can bring some snacks to reduce the awkwardness. You can also participate in events organized by your RA to meet more students like you.
Be yourself
You will only find friends that resonate with you only when you are being true to yourself and others. There is no need to pretend to be someone you are not. By being genuinely you, only the right people will be close to you and appreciate who you are. Spend more time with the people who are not judgmental and appreciative of your unique qualities. By starting the friendship with honesty and authenticity, you will remain with only genuine people too.
Consider joining clubs or organization at campus
There are different organizations and clubs in every college to help students find their interests. Hence, it is highly recommended that you join organizations or clubs that interest you. This way, you will meet like-minded people who share the same interest. It is pretty easier to start off conversation with the topic you share similar interest with.
Study in social settings
Instead of staying all day long in your room to complete your assignment, why doing it in more social settings such as cafe near campus, library, etc. You can tackle your assignments while socializing. You can take a break from your study by starting a conversation with the students near your table.

Make friends in the class
Before the class begins, say hi to the person next to you. It is more likely that you are going to see each other again next time in the same class. To gain more opportunity to interact, come to the class early. It will make it easier for you when there is group project if you have already made friends with the majority of the people in your class.
